Position:
We are seeking an experienced and innovative scientific leader to serve as Senior Director of Antibody Discovery. This individual will lead the discovery, engineering and characterization of antibody therapeutics and drive the overall strategy and execution, of developing a therapeutic pipeline of mono-, bi- and multi-specific antibodies to modulate immune regulation. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in leadership, antibody discovery platforms, protein engineering, and a strong track record in advancing biologics through preclinical development to IND and beyond.
Key Responsibilities:
Scientific Leadership:
Lead the design, discovery, and optimization of novel monoclonal, bi- and multi-specific antibodies aligned with the company's pipeline goals.
Oversee antibody engineering strategies including affinity maturation, Fc engineering, and bi-specific/multi-specific formats.
Oversee bioproduction platforms to support in vitro and in vivo testing.
Drive innovation in platform technologies (e.g., phage, yeast, or mammalian display), computational protein design, and developability profiling.
Provide scientific and strategic leadership into target selection, pipeline decision, and project prioritization.
Team Management and Development:
Lead a team of research associates and scientists and foster a collaborative, goal-oriented environment aligned with corporate priorities and scientific rigor.
Collaborate with cross-functional project teams including Pharmacology, Translational Research, and Preclinical Development to advance programs from target validation through IND-enabling studies.
Manage departmental budget, resources, and timelines effectively.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Protein Engineering, Immunology, or a related field with 12+ years in therapeutic antibody/protein discovery, with 7+ years in leadership roles (Director+ level) in biotech/pharma.
Proven leadership experience managing research teams and advancing biologics programs from discovery into development.
Deep expertise in antibody discovery platforms (hybridoma, B cell cloning, display technologies), protein engineering, and characterization.
Strong track record of scientific innovation, peer-reviewed publications, and IP generation.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Comfortable working in a fast-paced start-up company environment
Strategic and agile thinker with problem solving mindset
Expected Salary Range: $244,000 - $272,000
