Position:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Research Associate / Associate Scientist to join the Biotherapeutics group and support antibody drug development programs. The successful candidate will play a key role in protein and antibody cloning and expression. In this role you will help optimize and advance expression platforms through evaluation of cell lines and culture conditions, vector engineering and maintain our molecules archive and databases while keeping rigorous experimental documentation in a collaborative industry research environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and clone protein variants and expression vectors, both internally and in collaboration with external partners.
Prepare DNA for transient and stable expression workflows.
Maintain mammalian cell lines for protein expression and functional assays.
Execute protein expression using transient and stable cell lines at various scales.
Support the optimization and advancement of the expression platform by evaluating different cell lines, culture conditions, and expression parameters.
Register, track, and manage inventories of expression vectors, DNA and protein sequences, and cell lines using electronic lab notebooks.
Measure protein expression titers using BLI and/or ELISA.
Perform data analysis and visualization using GraphPad Prism; interpret results and clearly communicate findings to project teams.
Communicate clearly and proactively with scientists across the protein production workflow to ensure smooth handoffs and timely execution.
Maintain accurate, complete, and well-organized experimental records in electronic lab notebooks.
Collaborate with scientists and cross-functional team members to advance biotherapeutics programs.
Provide additional support for antibody drug development efforts as needed, including protein purification and other antibody characterization activities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related scientific discipline.
Minimum of 2 years of hands-on laboratory experience in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry setting; level and title will be commensurate with experience.
Demonstrated hands-on experience with protein and antibody production using Expi293 and ExpiCHO cell lines.
Strong molecular biology skills, including primer and construct design, cloning, and preparation of high-quality DNA at various scales.
Hands-on experience with standard curve preparation and protein titer measurement using BLI.
Proficiency in GraphPad Prism for data analysis, curve fitting, and data visualization.
Strong data analysis, documentation, and organizational skills, with close attention to detail.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively in a team environment.
Nice to Have Skills
Experience with analytical characterization techniques, including HPLC-SEC, HPLC-HIC, and SDS-PAGE
Experience with FACS-based binding assays to evaluate antibody binding to cell surface targets and support functional characterization
Experience with ELISA-based assays in multiple formats to support antibody characterization
Familiarity with antibody discovery and biotherapeutics development workflows
Expected Salary Range: $93,000 - $120,000
